UCLA Olga Radko Endowed Math Circle

4/13/2008: Study groups/Problem sets (Olga Radko)

Quadratic polynomials/Trigonometry
Please choose a set of problems from two handouts listed below. You should work on problems at home, in advance of the circle meeting. During the meeting, you will explain your solutions to LAMC proctors. Your solutions should be mathematical explanations, in which you may rely only on the facts listed on the worksheets (or problems that you have already done).
The worksheet dealing with quadratic polynomials contains a number of challenging problems, which are accessible to students grades 7 and above (many of the problems will be equally challenging to older students). The trigonometry worksheet assumes some basic familiarity with trigonometric functions, but is in fact a good way to learn about them.
